Investing
James Hervey Johnson was a very successful businessman and investor. As a young man, he was involved in the real estate business with his father and later became a successful real estate investor and/or broker on his own. While specific details on his real estate activities are somewhat sketchy, he reportedly was a self made millionaire by the age of 30, at a time when a million dollars was a very large fortune.
Johnson invested his business profits in the stock market as a means of protecting and growing his wealth. Lacking the specifics on the performance of his portfolio over the years, it is impossible to compare his approach with those of other investors. However it is clear that he was extremely successful in amassing a vast personal fortune by the time of his death in 1988, by some reports to be in excess of $20 million. Mr. Johnson presented his investment philosophy and stock market strategies in a booklet entitled Successful Stock Investing published in 1984. The booklet can be accessed either in PDF or word document format by following either of these links:

Mr. Johnson published this booklet to share his formula for success with others. We hope that visitors here may benefit from his ideas on stock market investing.
